Chana Masala Rice

Chana masala rice is an easy recipe for lunch or dinner time. You will get everything in one dish. Additionaly, i have added beef kheem to make it more tasty. You can also replace beef with chicken. It taste delicious like other easy rice recipes like pulao. You will need white chane for this recipe, which bigger in size. I have also included spinach in this recipe to get more health benefits. It is best recipe for those who don't like spinach alone.




Ingredients

3 Cup Rice
1 Cup Chana
4 tablespoon Kheema
Spinach - 5 leafs
1 tablespoon ginger
1 tablespoon garlic
3 onion
4 tomatoes
1 tablespoon red chili powder
1 tsp turmeric
1/2 black pepper
1 tsp  garam masala
1 tsp coriander powder (Hawez)
1 Bay leaf
2 Pandan leaves
1 lemon
Salt as taste
1 tsp Kasuri methi
Oil 2-3 tablespoon depend on the quantity of rice.



How to Cook?

Chana: Soak for 5 hours or overnight and boil in the cooker with 2 whistles.


Beef Kheema: Cooke kheema with chopped onion, turmeric powder, ginger, and garlic paste and coriander. Add 1 tsp oil and half cup water. Cook it completely till you get the nice aroma of beef.

Chana Masala

  • Prepare gravy without spinach by frying onion and other ingredients in the oil. Cook all the ingredients for 5 minutes on medium flame and mix pre cooked kheema in the gravy. Add lemon juice and mix boiled chane. Cook this for 10 minutes till chane absorb the taste of gravy.
  • Cook Rice and spread in a plate and let it cool down. Then mix the rice in gravy.
  • Lastly, Chop the spinach leaves and stir fry it in different pan with one teaspoon oil, black pepper, salt and mix in chana masala rice. This is added vegetable for healthy food and optional.
  • Serve with curd or urad papad.

"Chongay" is a sweet dessert that is made during the month of  Muharram . I have seen from childhood everyone prepare this recipe during Muharram. But I didn't find the exact story of it. However, it is a delicious sweet recipe. Let it cool down, sprinkle the powdered sugar over chonga and server it.
